To understand fully you have to know where I was coming from. You
see, I have been in network marketing for several years and I had the
false belief that it was the affiliate link posting guys that were
causing the bad name for us multi-level network marketing business
builders. It seemed that the internet world did not know the difference
and that everyone linked network marketing with internet marketing, I
was always so adamant that there was a huge difference. I proudly would
think I was in MLM. It was all about relationships and strengthening a
network where products could be distributed through a channel of people.
It is a people business, person to person. It also yielded residual
income.
I am passionate about residual income. In my proud ways when I used to talk to affiliate marketers I would ask them if they stopped doing what they were doing today how much they would get paid in 2 years for the work they did now. Of course, I knew the answer, affiliate marketing requires constant up keep and you need new traffic all the time, it's not a residual set up like a network marketing comp plan is. I saw that as contributing to the one time sale and spamming just to get new traffic rather than creating true long-term value. Well, I was actively involved in this petty debate for too much time until I moved on and continued to focus on my MLM.
Then it hit me. I was working on my personal website for my own home based business and I needed information. I was looking for something and guess where I found it? That's, right! Through an affiliate marketing link. I actually received value from that little link and it got me to exactly what I wanted in almost no time at all. Wow. Internet marketing is marketing. Its getting the right information in front of the right people. It's only annoying and spammy when it is not in the right place but that is what the internet marketer is trying to do. Get the right info in front of the right audience. The better they get at that the more they can make. When they are not good at it yet, they are learning. Be patient with them. Everyone is a rookie before they become a pro. Ah ha, internet marketing and affiliate network marketing (that I saw was just randomly placed links all over that led to nowhere) suddenly had a purpose and value and I even saw the potential in it! At that moment my view changed. I accepted affiliate network marketing for what it was. It is all marketing and it is the way of marketing for the future. Internet links are valuable and serve their purpose and the personal relationships are valuable. The technicalities of terms used between affiliate or network just imply the back-end of the commission structure but in the end it is marketing. It is getting the right product to the person who is looking for it.
